Aishwarya Paid 6 Crores for ‘Enthiram’

According to industry insiders, Aishwarya Rai is being paid 6 crores for her role in Enthiram, the film that also stars Rajnikanth. This makes her the highest paid Bollywood actor. This is going to be a big film in every way. The budget for the movie is 140 crores, meaning that the distribution deal must come in at around 160 crores, meaning that the Indian box office takings must be at least 40 crores for the movie to be a hit – a massive target all round.
However, if anyone can drag in the punters, Aishwarya can. She’s still probably the only really well-known actress to cross the cultural divide recognisably into western movies, having starred in movies such as Bride & Prejudice, Mistress of Spices, Provoked and The Last Legion. She will soon be seen in The Pink Panther 2. In addition to this, of course, she has a whole string of successful Bollywood productions behind her including Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Devdas, Raincoat, Umrao Jaan, Dhoom 2, Guru and Jodhaa Akbar.
Former Miss World Aishwarya, with her impish smile and playful eyes, is currently in Brazil filming for Enthiram. It meant she missed out on the big music launch for hubby Abhi’s new movie Drona. “She wanted to be there for Abhishek’s music launch of Drona,” explained mother-in-law Jaya. “The film is very close to the family and Ash did not want to miss it. But with the crew already set shop in Brazil, Ash had to fly out.”
Rakhi Sawant Proposes to Salman Khan

The extraordinary and delightful Rakhi Sawant proposed to Salman Khan at the end of his show Dus Ka Dum. She even presented him with a ring leaving him speechless. Rakhi was present at the filming of the grand finale for the show as the special guest. This should be a good show to watch as it also includes Rani Mukherjee and Lara Dutta with Rani apparently making references to Salman’s recent spat with SRK.
Rakhi will also be seen soon in the Telugu movie Drona. She’s doing an item number, her first for a Telugu movie, in the film that stars Nitin and Priyamani. This should not be confused with the big budget Abshishek Bachchan - Priyanka Chopra starrer. Rakhi also does an item number in this week’s horror movie release, 1920.
Rakhi, who quite rightly says, “I don”t need publicity, the publicity needs me,” has brightened up many a movie with her exotic dance numbers. Does it worry her that she is seen primarily as an item girl? “I am happy being an item girl as I find nothing wrong in it,” she says. “Of course I shall be seen in many item songs when I have the things that others lack - why shouldn’t I make the most of it! I like all my songs. The censor people are not comfortable with what I do - but I just don’t care.”

The tour is scheduled to travel through Europe, with big night’s at London’s Wembley Stadium on September 11 and Paris on September 20 still ahead. Then it’s off to North America in October before the tour’s end in Sao Paulo, Brazil on December 18.
And with so many performances stretching across the globe, the Material Girl has added an additional member on her entourage that’s now 250-strong, medical doctor Steven Margolin.
Of her decision to add a new doctor to the payroll, an insider told press: “It’s (tour) going to be very draining, and she needs him around to aid her in her recovery time after each show. She’ll have daily massages to relax her.”
